Valerie Doran Bashaw has a show in Overland Park, KS.

Valerie's show at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Overland Park Kansas featuring 10 new pieces hanging in the new wing of SMMC. It is on the lower level, enter at the main entrance, take the elevator or stairs down and it is across from the gardens. It's dedicated to her mother and called, Anna's Garden. 2 works are Japanese colored paste resist on silk and the other 8 are composed of resist dyed silks, pieced together and stretched on deep frames. The imagery is focused on healing and renewal, so a hospital setting is a good partnership.

Tow of your images are vertical, from what you will see here. One is 60 x 40" titled "Deepening" and the other is called "Deep Forest" at 30 x 20".

Techniques include "Shibori" and a bamboo resist method that the artists has developed herself. She has used 6 different kinds of silk fabric, each accepting the dye in a different manner.
